SHEARS UPDATES

March 03, 2025 (last update)

Thank you for sharing your suggestions and providing valuable feedback regarding SHEARS updates. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we worked to simplify student enrollment processes and hour reporting in the newly launched SHEARS.

Schools will enroll students and report all hours for Class A Barber students (enrolled after 7/1/24) under one permit and Cosmetology Operator students under one permit. The core permit has been removed from SHEARS.

All other course types will enroll students and continue to report hours the same.

Note – Important Student Enrollment Issue: Please remember during enrollment to make sure the student’s name on their government issued ID matches what is submitted for the student permit either by paper application or SHEARS. This will eliminate unnecessary delays at the time of exam eligibility.

We know you have questions about these processes and updates. We are developing resources to help you operate your schools and assist you with your struggles.
