  6. Standard of Care Workgroup report regarding discussion over the harassment of and violence toward massage therapists.
  7. Discussion and possible recommendation on the proposed amendments to existing rules at 16 Texas Administrative Code (TAC), Chapter 117, §§117.2, 117.50, 117.55, 117.58, 117.59, 117.62, 117.66, 117.67, 117.68, 117.82, 117.91, and 117.92, regarding the Massage Therapy program. The proposed rules implement Senate Bill 1130, 87th Legislature, Regular Session (2021), pertaining to distance learning, and House Bill 1540, 87th Legislature, Regular Session (2021), which amended the definition of “sexual contact” in the Massage Therapy statute. The proposed rules also include clarification and clean-up changes and make amendments in response to violence and other misconduct against massage therapists.

The Massage Therapy Advisory Board will accept public comments for the July 26, 2021 meeting. 

Written comments must be submitted to Board.Comments@tdlr.texas.gov by no later than 12:00 p.m. on July 23, 2021. Comments will be provided to the Board members for their review prior to the meeting but will not be read aloud during the public meeting. 

If you wish to address the Board during the public meeting, please provide your contact information to Board.Comments@tdlr.texas.gov by 12:00 p.m. on July 23, 2021. The Friday before the meeting, you will receive an email with a link/phone number to join the meeting. You will be given no more than three (3) minutes to speak. The presiding officer may reduce the time provided for public comments based on the number of requests received. Ensure that you have a reliable connection and clear audio.
