Discussion and possible recommendation on the proposed amendments to existing rules at 16 Texas Administrative Code (TAC), Chapter 117, §§117.20, 117.24, 117.30, 117.31, 117.64, 117.82, 117.90, 117.91, and 117.92; and proposed new rule at §117.35 regarding the Massage Therapy program. The proposed rules implement House Bill 2059, 86th Legislature, Regular Session (2019), which requires massage therapists and other health care practitioners to complete a human trafficking prevention training course in order to renew their license. The proposed rules would allow the training to count for up to three hours of required continuing education. The proposed rules also clearly require that a new written consent be obtained before each session involving breast massage of a female client, and also make clarification and clean-up changes.

The Massage Therapy Advisory Board will accept public comment for the October 29, 2020 meeting. 

Written comments must be submitted to by no later than 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2020. Comments will be provided to the Board members for their review prior to the meeting but will not be read aloud during the public meeting.

During the meeting, you will receive an email with a link/phone number to join the meeting. You will be given no more than three (3) minutes to speak.
