TDLR has completed its review of student records for the Driving School of Mansfield and I Drive Driving Academy and created a Verification of Instruction letter based off those records. Students affected by the closure will use this letter instead of the required DE-964 certificate.
- If your child completed the driver education course, they must complete the DPS Texas Teen Driver Program before going to DPS to obtain their provisional driver license. They’ll need to take copies of their student records and the DPS Texas Teen Impact certificate with them when they go to DPS, as well as other documents. Please check the DPS website before your appointment to see a full list of documents needed to obtain a provisional license.
- If your child did not complete a course through one of the closed schools, they will need to enroll in another driver education school to finish the course. You will take copies of your child’s records to the school of your choice to enroll them.

Refunds: When a school closes and cannot issue full refunds to students, TDLR must then file on the school’s $10,000.00 bond. Refund amounts are based on the total number of students affected by the closure and the number of course hours they completed. The refund process will begin once all records are issued.
If you need copies of your child’s records, please contact the Education & Examination Division.
