The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced several recalls over the past several years for certain brands of gas-fired boilers for potential carbon monoxide poisoning issues.
Please check the CPSC website for additional information. Here are recalls you should be aware of:
- Prestige Solo, Prestige Excellence, and Aerco Esteem condensing gas boilers (Feb. 27, 2025): The boilers can release carbon monoxide (CO) due to delayed ignitions or component damage, posing a risk of serious injury or death. Deaths and injuries have been reported in connection with these products. More information is available on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website.
- U.S. Boiler, New Yorker Boiler, Advantage, FORCE and Archer brand gas-fired hot water residential boilers (March 14, 2024): The blocked vent switch (BVS) can fail to shut down the burners if the boilers are installed at altitudes above 5,400 feet and the vent system becomes blocked. In such an event, the boiler can emit excessive amounts of carbon monoxide into the home, posing a carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning hazard to consumers. More information is available on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website.
- Lochinvar condensing residential boilers (Nov. 2, 2023): The boiler’s flue grommet can deteriorate and dislodge during use, and allow the boiler to emit carbon monoxide, posing a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. More information is available on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website.
