The Texas Commission of Licensing and Regulation adopted amendments to existing rules at 16 Texas Administrative Code (TAC), Chapter 73, ยงยง73.10, 73.26, and 73.80, and new rules at 16 TAC, Chapter 73, ยง73.110 and ยง73.111, regarding the Electricians program. The adopted rules implement House Bill (HB) 1391, 88th Legislature, Regular Session (2023). HB 1391 provides a new pathway to a residential wireman license for students who complete a focused career and technology education program offered by a Texas high school or institution of higher education. The bill requires the Department to establish standards by rule for the essential knowledge and skills used to build these programs.
The adoption justification was published in the August 23, 2024, issue of the Texas Register (49 TexReg 6447). The updated rule chapter will be available in the Texas Administrative Code upon its effective date of September 1, 2024.
