<p>Attention Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Providers:</p>



<p>Effective immediately, all Electric Vehicle Supply Providers may now register their Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) on our website: <a href="https://vo.licensing.tdlr.texas.gov/datamart/login.do">Online Licensing Services &#8211; TDLR</a></p>



<p>As a reminder, Providers must register all non-exempt devices no later than March 1, 2025. To determine if you need to register your equipment with TDLR please review the new <a href="https://texreg.sos.state.tx.us/public/readtac$ext.ViewTAC?tac_view=5&amp;ti=16&amp;pt=4&amp;ch=96&amp;sch=B&amp;rl=Y">Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment Administrative Rules</a> and law: <a href="https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov/Docs/OC/htm/OC.2311.v2.htm">Occupations Code Chapter 2311</a>.</p>

<p><strong>TDLR is responsible for creating a&nbsp;</strong>regulatory framework for electric vehicle charging stations, making rules for the installation and operation of electric vehicle supply equipment, as well inspecting charging stations and administering consumer protections and consumer complaint procedures.</p>



<p>Senate Bill 1001 (88<sup>th</sup>&nbsp;Regular Session) became law on June 18, 2023. The law:</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Allows TDLR to inspect EV supply equipment periodically or in response to a complaint;</li>



<li>Requires EV supply providers to register and maintain equipment according to rules;</li>



<li>Authorizes the Texas Commission of Licensing and Regulation to adopt fees and rules, consistent with national standards;</li>



<li>Requires electric vehicle charging station users to be provided a receipt of all commercial transactions;</li>



<li>Directs operators to remove and repair damaged equipment; and</li>



<li>Establishes standard regulatory authority for TDLR.</li>
</ul>



<p>TDLR has until Dec. 1, 2024, to adopt rules governing the program.</p>

<p>The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has withdrawn the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tdlr.texas.gov/ab/info/TM2012-01.pdf">EV Charging Station Technical Memo (TM 2012-01)</a>. TDLR will begin work with the Elimination of Architectural Barriers Advisory Committee to develop rules regarding the accessibility requirements for electrical vehicle charging stations. This will include accessibility requirements established by the department as part of&nbsp;<a href="https://texreg.sos.state.tx.us/public/readtac$ext.ViewTAC?tac_view=4&amp;ti=16&amp;pt=4&amp;ch=68&amp;rl=Y">Texas Administrative code Chapter 68</a>.</p>
