Texas Lottery Advisory Committee
Apply To Be Part Of The New Lottery Advisory Committee
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) is currently seeking applicants to serve as volunteer members of the new nine-member Lottery Advisory Committee.
As part of the transition of the Texas Lottery Commission to TDLR in September, legislators abolished the commission and created the Lottery Advisory Committee.
Members will serve staggered six-year terms, but during this initial period, three members will serve two-year terms, three will serve 4-year terms, and three will serve 6-year terms.
Advisory committee members will play a critical role in supporting TDLR’s mission by providing technical knowledge, industry expertise, and real-world insight to the Texas Commission of Licensing and Regulation and agency staff. The committee will meet virtually, allowing for participation by members from across the state.
Committee membership will be comprised of:
- One public member who represents Texas consumers and has no ties to the lottery industry or TDLR
- One licensed lottery sales agent
- Two members who represent interest groups with divergent viewpoints on the lottery and lottery operations
- Two members who represent entities associated with or that benefit from the lottery’s contributions to the state
- One member who has experience with lottery law enforcement
- One member who has experience in lottery legal matters
- One member who has experience with lottery finance
Anyone chosen for the committee will be required to submit fingerprints for a state and national criminal history and background report.
