Presenter Bios
Roxanne Anderson, LM, CPM
Ms. Anderson was originally trained in the North Texas School of Midwifery (predecessor of the current ATM Midwifery Training Program: ATMMTP), and graduated in 1990. She is a NARM registered preceptor, an ATM registered preceptor and has participated in the training of ten midwifery students since 2011. She is also an active member of both the North Texas Midwives Association and the Association of Texas Midwives, and teaches educational workshops for both organizations. Ms. Anderson was appointed to the Texas State Midwifery Board work group that developed the Preceptor Guidelines for the State of Texas. She personally developed and regularly teaches the eight hour preceptor training workshop required by the guidelines. She has attended over 600 births and has been the primary attendant at over 300 births.
Dr. H. Steve Byrd, MD
Dr. Byrd has been practicing as a plastic surgeon in Dallas, Texas since completing his residency in 1978. He is board certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He entered private practice at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas and was appointed vice-chairman to the Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center following his residency. Since those appointments, he has been distinguished as a full professor at the above mentioned University and has been elected Chief of Service at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas. In addition, he serves as Director of Plastic Surgery at Children’s Medical Center, is an officer of the Dallas Society of Plastic Surgeons, is an officer of the Rhinoplasty Society and a member of the board of the Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation. In a recent poll, “Best Doctor’s in America," Dr. Byrd was elected by his peers as one of the top plastic surgeons in the United States. He accredits this acknowledgment to his uncompromising commitment to the highest standard of patient care, to the development of innovative and state of the art surgical techniques, and to the betterment of his specialty through the educational and governmental process.
Jennifer Mozeke,LM, CPM
Jennifer Mozeke, better known as Mozeke, is a native of Dallas but grew up in Louisiana. She is a Certified Professional Midwife through the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM), a Licensed Midwife in Texas and has attended over 100 births. She is also in her final year of studies at Mercy In Action College of Midwifery where she is obtaining a Bachelors of Science in Midwifery degree. In addition to her current collegiate pursuit, she also has a Bachelors of Arts from the University of Louisiana at Monroe and a Masters of Arts in Arts, Entertainment and Media Management from Columbia College Chicago.
Her journey to midwifery began years ago after the birth of her first child. The experience left her with an intense passion for reproductive justice, birth equity and postpartum wellness. The calling was undeniable and soon after the birth of her second child in 2017, she was able to answer that call. Mozeke believes that midwifery care should be an affordable and easily accessible option for any pregnant person who desires holistic, evidence-based, family centered care where pregnancy is not viewed as an illness but rather a unique and normal process of life. She is dedicated to serving families in the Dallas-Fort Worth area through education, nutritional counseling, advocacy, prenatal, labor, birth and postpartum care.
