Elimination of Architectural Barriers

The Elimination of Architectural Barriers law is meant to ensure that Texas buildings and facilities are accessible and functional for all persons with disabilities. The statute requires compliance with the Texas Accessibility Standards.

Owner information in TABS records must reflect the owning entity that holds title to the property, matching local County/Central Appraisal District (CAD) records, per Texas Administrative Code Chapter 68.10(18). It is imperative that property owners and designers submitting project registrations in the Texas Architectural Barriers online System (TABS) provide accurate and complete information. It is a violation of the Texas Administrative Code Chapter 68.12(e) for owners, property managers, designers, tenants etc. to provide false or misleading information during registration of a project. Repeat offenders may be subject to fines and penalties with TDLR.
