A new endorsement, Instructor Training Provider, will be added as an option for the Motorcycle Instructor license effective January 1, 2024. This endorsement was created by Senate Bill 478 (88th Legislature Regular Session).
Instructors must hold a current certification to conduct a TDLR-approved instructor training course issued by the course owner or administrator. Please contact your curriculum provider for this certificate before applying.
There are three ways to apply for the endorsement:
- during the initial application process. You will have the ability to add and pay for the Instructor Training Provider Endorsement during the online application.
- when renewing the instructor license. You will have the ability to add and pay for the Instructor Training Provider Endorsement during the online application.
- any time during the active license term. You must use the Add Instructor Training Provider transaction during the online application.
Instructors may not teach an Instructor Training Course until the application is approved. When your application is approved, you will receive a updated wallet card and certificate that include the Instructor Training Provider Endorsement.
Reporting Requirements
Motorcycle Instructors with the Instructor Training Provider Endorsement will be required to report class data to the department using the ‘Upload Student Roster’ transaction within the Online Licensing Services System.
