Commission Readopts Rules (Rule Review)

The Texas Commission of Licensing and Regulation readopted the rules at 16 Texas Administrative Code (TAC) Chapter 84, Driver Education and Safety, as a result of the required four-year rule review. The readoption notice was published in the May 16, 2025, issue of the Texas Register (50 TexReg 2985).

UPDATED: Driving Safety Providers Must Charge Students Minimum Fees

Texas Education Code 1001.352 and Texas Administrative Code 84.82 (a) requires Driving Safety Providers to charge each student at least $25.00 for a driving safety course, plus at least $3.00 for course materials and course supervision and administration. Driving Safety Providers: Changes to Certificate Ordering System and Driving Safety Student Data Uploads
