TDLR is seeking Court Ordered Program Subject Matter Experts

TDLR is seeking Court Ordered Program Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to serve on our Examination Review Committee (ERC) and to assist our Education and Examination Division with examination review, maintenance, development, and creation. SMEs are tasked with ensuring state examinations for licensure uphold stringent standards and are continually up to date by referencing current rules and laws.

If you are interested in becoming a SME, please complete the Examination Development Committee Application and send it in by January 5, 2026. TDLR staff will review all eligible Court Ordered Instructor licensees who hold all four (4) endorsements:ย  Alcohol Education Program for Minors (AEPM), Drug Offense Education Program (DOEP), DWI Education Program (DWIE), and DWI Intervention Program (DWII) and select the SMEs.

All SMEs receive training on their role and must sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). The SME position tasks at a minimum include the following:

  • Development of examination questions and answers.
  • Referencing rules and laws,
  • Reviewing or amending examination items for performance.
  • Traveling to Austin to participate in the ERC process.
