Title Requirements
- A boxer can hold a Texas State Title in only one weight class at a time.
- Both Texas championship bout contestants must have a minimum of six bouts and both contestants must have won their last contested bout prior to the title bout.
- The promoter will provide the title belt and/or any other awards associated with the title bout.
- The promoter will provide new gloves to be used by the contestant, as well as a back-up pair of new gloves for each contestant.
- The title bout will be contested within the specific weight class, with no weight allowance above the maximum weight limit for the weight class. If the defending champion cannot make weight, the title is forfeited on the scale, and if the challenger, having made weight, wins the bout, he/she will become champion. If the champion wins, the title remains vacant. In the case where the challenger fails to make weight, the champion will retain the title, whether he/she wins or loses the bout. In a contest for a vacant title, only the contestant that made weight can win the vacant title. If both contestants fail to make weight in a contest for a vacant title, the contest can be held, but the title remains vacant.
- Both contestants will be drug tested on the day of the title bout.
- Texas State Title bouts will be either six or eight rounds in duration.
- An agreement to defend the Texas state title must be signed within 120 days of winning the title, or the title becomes vacant.
- No advertisements of Texas state title bouts are allowed without prior approval from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Combative Sports Program Manager.
- No sanctioning fees will be charged in association with any Texas state title bouts. All other fees required by Texas Administrative Code Chapter 61 apply.
