Exam Information
Exam Eligibility
Applicants must submit an application before becoming eligible to sit for the TX Water Well Driller/Pump Installer examination. Please follow the instructions for how to submit an application.
After submitting your application, TDLR staff will verify that you meet all eligibility requirements. Upon confirmation, you will receive an eligibility email notice from PSI. The email includes instructions for registering and scheduling an examination.
Examination Requirements
When submitting your licensing application, you will select the endorsements you would like for your license. The test you take will depend on the class of license that you are applying for as well as the endorsements that you have selected.
TDLR offers the following Water Well Driller endorsement examinations:
- TX Closed Loop Geothermal Well Driller
- TX Dewatering Well Driller
- TX General Well Driller
- TX Injection Well Driller
- TX Monitor Well
- TX Water Well Driller
TDLR offers the following Pump Installer endorsement examinations:
- TX Single Phase Pump
- TX Three-Phase Pump
- TX General Pump Installer
- TX Line Shaft Turbine Pump
- TX Windmills, Hand Pump and Pump Jack
Eligibilities are valid for one year from the date of approval. If you fail the exam, you may schedule a retake with PSI, within 24-48 hours of your failed exam.
