Laser Hair Removal Continuing Education
Requirement for Individuals
To renew a laser hair removal individual certificate of registration issued by TDLR, a total of 8 hours of continuing education must be completed. The following license types are required to obtain continuing education credits:
- Apprentice-in-Training
- Technician
- Senior Technician
- Professional
Types of Training
Continuing education will be accepted by web-based online training, home-study training*, workshops, or other training opportunities.
*Home-study training will only be accepted for educational courses that individuals can complete at home without physically attending class. These courses must include an examination component. Webinars are one example of a home-study training course. Acceptable home-study training courses must issue a certificate of completion which includes the following:
- Name of trainee/licensee
- Date training was completed
- Title of training course
- Name of training provider
- Number of completed hours
If the training provider does not issue a certificate of completion with the required information listed on the certificate, the CE hours will not be accepted.
Required Subjects
Continuing education must include, but is not limited to the following subjects:

A refresher training in topics listed below:
- LHR device safety
- laser physics
- skin typing
- skin reactions
- treatment protocols
- burns
- eye protection
- emergencies;
- post-treatment protocols
- cardio-pulmonary resuscitation
- proper signage and posting
- use of a LHR device
- anesthesia used in conjunction with LHR procedures
- Laser Hair Removal technology updates
- Applicable regulatory changes
- Health and Safety related topics
