Apprentice-in-Training

To renew a Laser Hair Removal Apprentice-in-Training Certificate, you must:

• Submit proof of completing 8 hours of continuing education
• Submit a completed renewal application form
• Pay the $50 fee when you submit your renewal application
• Successfully pass a criminal history background check

Technician

To renew a Laser Hair Removal Technician certificate, you must:

• Submit proof of completing 8 hours of continuing education
• Submit a completed renewal application form
• Pay the $70 fee when you submit your renewal application
• Successfully pass a criminal history background check

Senior Technician

To renew a Senior Laser Hair Removal Technician certificate, you must:

• Submit proof of completing 8 hours of continuing education
• Submit a completed renewal application form
• Pay the $100 fee when you submit your renewal application
• Successfully pass a criminal history background check

Professional

To renew a Laser Hair Removal Professional certificate, you must:

• Submit proof of current certification from a department approved certifying entity
• Submit proof of completing 8 hours of continuing education
• Submit a completed renewal application form
• Pay the $150 fee when you submit your renewal application
• Successfully pass a criminal history background check

Changes to Contact Information

If your name, address, or contact info has changed since your last renewal, you will need to update your information online prior to renewing.

Criminal History Background Check

All applicants for an individual laser hair removal certificate must successfully pass a criminal history background check.

Please see the Guidelines for License Applicants with Criminal Convictions, which describe the process by which TDLR determines whether a criminal conviction renders an applicant an unsuitable candidate for the license, or whether a conviction warrants revocation or suspension of a license previously granted.

Renewal of Expired Licenses

A late renewal means the registrant will have a period of non-registration from the expiration date of the expired license to the issuance date of the renewed license.

A license that has been expired for 90 days or less may be renewed by paying to the department a renewal fee that is equal to 1-1/2 times the normally required renewal fee.

A license that has been expired for more than 90 days but less than 18 months may be renewed by paying to the department a renewal fee that is equal to two times the normally required renewal fee.

On approval by the executive director (see Request to Executive Director for Expired License Renewal Form PDF), a license that has been expired for at least 18 months but less than three years may be renewed by paying to the department a renewal fee equal to two times the normally required renewal fee.
