Sanitarian in Training Upgrade to Sanitarian
A registered sanitarian in training who has obtained the necessary experience to qualify as a sanitarian may file an application to upgrade a registration to that of sanitarian.
Application and Fee
Submit a completed Upgrade Sanitarian in Training Registration Application (PDF) along with the upgrade fee of $25.
Your Sanitarian in Training registration must be current and active when you apply for the upgrade.
Experience Requirement
You must provide documentation of at least two years of full-time experience in the fields of consumer health, environmental health, or sanitation. Regularly assigned duties must have included consumer health, environmental health, or sanitation.

For a complete listing of acceptable experience, please refer to section 119.21 (2) of the administrative rules.
Applicants with Criminal Convictions
Please see the Guidelines for License Applicants with Criminal Convictions, which describe the process by which TDLR determines whether a criminal conviction renders an applicant an unsuitable candidate for the license, or whether a conviction warrants revocation or suspension of a license previously granted.
